Valentines Day Portraits...

A portrait mixed with elegance and romance makes for an outstanding Valentines gift

Story as in the Barrington Patch By Rich Rostron

A candle flickers on the table between your finest china adorned with that special meal you both love. Soft tempos of love from the speakers set the mood for romance. What could possibly make for a better Valentine’s Day?

Of course, there is a matter of the gift and not just any gift. It has to be as right as everything else you’ve planned for the evening. Jewelry? For your man? That just won’t do. But what then?

Just imagine completing the scene above with an elegant portrait of yourself wearing that gown you haven’t had a reason to wear in far too long. Maybe you’ll surprise your significant other with a reservation for an intimate portrait together. But, this isn’t a project you want to hand off to just anyone. You need a professional – someone who knows the difference between classy and cheesy.

There is an unending list of self-purported professional photographers out there claiming to have the experience and expertise to handle this kind of a project. A truly qualified portrait photographer, however, will present you with a finished project that is tasteful, compelling and enduring.

Audrey Wancket, of Spring Grove based Wancket Studios, said that, “In the age of digital photography, so many people are ready to call themselves ‘professional’ photographers. Most of the time, they’re not really a professional, they’re just someone with a Nikon or a Canon.”

Wancket said that an intimate but classy romantic portrait requires a proper touch. She recommends doing a little research about the photographer you’re planning to hire. Look at his or her prior works. Is the photographer certified by the Professional Photographers of America? If not, you may want to look somewhere else.

With more than 25 years since opening the doors of Wancket Studios, she clearly has that kind of ability. With a long list of top professional photography awards, it’s equally obvious that she stands above the crowd in what she brings to her clients.

“Properly done, a romantic portrait is something you can hang on the wall with pride, regardless of who is looking,” she said. “And, better than flowers, it’s something you’ll appreciate for years to come.”
